An app for interpreters or anybody who uses personalized glossaries.
This application permits professional interpreters (or anybody) maintain and use their specialized glossaries in the confines of the booth or elsewhere.
It is designed with small screen size (but with good resolution) in mind. If you have a full sized tablet (7 inch or better), you might be want to use the GlossaryAssistant app.
Up to 10 languages can be installed.
The search function is very fast and intuitive. Entire glossary database or individual glossaries can be imported and exported from/to the PC Glossary Assistant or the tablet version GlossaryAssistant via standard file management commands. The only limitation on the size of glossaries is memory of the device.
Glossaries displayed in multiple languages at the same time.
Fast sorting in any of the languages with just a longtouch of a column header.
With Android keyboards, just about any language can be used. (the sort function might not support all locales, but specific locales can be added on request). Currently, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Greek, Chinese (zh_CN), Arabic (ar_DZ), Russian, Danish, Dutch are available.
Search terms in foreign languages can be entered without accents (in most cases).
Useful for anybody needing instant translation of specialized terms in multiple languages at the same time. e.g. conference interpreters, legal personnel, teachers, doctors, law enforcement, etc
Your own personal glossaries can be loaded from your PC via Excel or other software which can store a tab separated unicode text file. Once loaded to the device they can be also maintained on the device. In fact, new glossaries can be created on the device.
This application was developed on a HTC-1 (Android 4.2 or later).. This app is not a dictionary. It displays expressions in multiple languages at the same time in a columnar layout. Web dictionaries can be easily accessed from the application.
There is a small learning curve.
For more information including user guide and sample glossaries, visit our website. Overall, the functionality of this app, the GlossaryAssistant app and the PCGlossaryAssistant is the same with some variations in the GUI.
Downloading of the PC version provides an actual working database which can be copied to your device in case you want to practice..
